Using a Surrogate Mother? Here’s Everything You Need to Know

Agreeing to have a surrogate mother help build your family is a big decision. Even though you are now ready to work with an agency to find a surrogate best matched to you and your partner, there is still a lot of information to take in. At Surrogacy America, we want all of our prospective parents to feel confident and prepared as they begin their journey to parenthood. We know that having all information about the surrogacy progress clearly explained can go a long way toward decreasing any stress you may feel.

How involved is Surrogacy America throughout the surrogacy experience?

With Surrogacy America, our staff is here to guide and support you from the moment you decide to work with our agency. We assign prospective parents a case manager who will assist in surrogate mother selection (though the end decision is entirely up to you), connection with the surrogate mother, selection of a fertility clinic (if needed), attorney referral for the surrogacy contract, cycle progress updates, and more, until the birth of your child.

How do we know that our surrogate carrier will be qualified?

Surrogacy America holds high standards for women who generously agree to become a gestational carrier for another couple or individual. Prospective surrogates must meet our list of surrogate mother requirements and undergo thorough screenings in order to ensure that they are qualified and understanding of their role in the process.

What if we need donor eggs or sperm?

If prospective parents are in need of an egg or sperm donor, Surrogacy America is happy to work with them in order to build their family. Surrogacy America is partnered with Egg Donor America, and our staff can advise on sperm donation when needed.

How long does surrogacy take?

The surrogacy process usually takes about 12-15 months. The total length of time really depends on how quickly you wish to proceed and on your availability.

How do I get started?

We encourage prospective parents to review the information provided in the prospective parent section of our website, and then contact Surrogacy America. We also advise that you register with us so you can view surrogate profiles in full on our online surrogate mother database. If you have any questions, please contact us, we are happy to help you navigate every stage of this process.
